What have I done!!

The Toniq CB200 out on the track

In 1995 I took a spin in one of Caterham’s demo cars at Brooklands air-strip and I fell in love with the whole spirit of the seven. I thought I was over it. I thought I was OK and would get by in life without one. But it was not to be. 15 yrs on, I found myself again behind the wheel of a Caterham at a corportate motorsports day and all those feelings came rushing back!

So I started doing a bit of research. I looked at Caterham, Westfield, MK, locost etc etc. and really could not decide the way forward. Then I stumbled across the Toniq and I knew, just KNEW! that this was the way forward.

Some of you may know that the Toniq came out of a design project by two students at Huddersfield Uni in 2002. 8 yrs on and things have matured. Colin Williams (half of the afore mentioned students and MD of Toniq Ltd). Has no doubt matured in some ways... (I don't know. I didn't know him back then!) but in many ways I am certain he has not... and that is a very good thing. For this is a car that has been developed by a passion on an almost infantile scale - and we all know that the cars we REALLY want to drive come from youthful zest for life and appeal to the child in us.

So. This blog is really a chance for me to chart the output of a mild mid-life crisis... Long may it last!
